See Battle Abbey and the 1066 story in a whole new light as it’s brought to life with dramatic illuminations this December. Have your cameras at the ready as you explore the atmospheric splendour of the abbey grounds and ruins lit up with all the colours of the rainbow. Discover the story of what happened after the Battle of Hastings as you encounter characters from the past.
Follow the wintery trail and take in stunning installations, atmospheric scenes and immersive soundscapes – there is intrigue at every turn. Gaze up at the stunning vistas of light against ancient architecture as we transport you back across the ages to winter 1066! A unique and magical experience awaits!
We’ll also be serving up a wide range of culinary delights. Warm up with a hot chocolate or, for the grown ups, grab a glass of hot mead or mulled cider. Afterwards, treat yourself to something to eat in our café. For those with a sweet tooth, we have open fire toasting of marshmallows, seasonal treats and traditional Saxon and Norman cakes on offer as well. The shop will also be open for those of you who want to do some Christmas shopping.
