Festive Willow Weaving Workshops at Nymans

Join Lorraine from @hedgesandhurdles for these festive Willow Workshops and bring some rustic charm to your garden and home in time for Christmas.

Thursday 14 December 2023, Willow Heart, 10am – 12:30pm

Adult (18+) £45 per person 
Teens (13-17 years) £35 per person 

Willow Angel – In this morning workshop you will learn how to weave a Willow Angel sculpture in the design of your choosing. The Angel can be woven using Brown or Buff Willow, the latter has had its bark removed before drying, the Willow is then soaked for around 1.5hrs prior to use and left for 24hrs to mellow. If you finish making your Willow Angel early, you can also make a small Star or mini-Christmas Tree! 

Willow Heart – In this morning workshop you will learn how to weave a 3D, Willow Heart. The Heart can be made from either buff or brown willow. Brown willow still has its bark and has been re-hydrated before use for 24hrs for every foot length! We soak our willow in a large trough in the garden. If you finish making your Willow Angel early, you can also make a small Star or mini-Christmas Tree! 

Traditional Swedish Star – In this afternoon workshop you will learn to weave two natural and traditional Swedish Stars using Willow in contrasting colours to be combined to make an attractive Christmas decoration. 

These workshops are suitable for adults and teenagers 13yrs +. 

What’s included: – All materials – Tea, coffee, mulled wine & mince pie. – Take home your completed craft. 
What shall I bring with me? Please bring your own pair of sharp secateurs. 

Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time of the workshop. Check into Visitor Welcome on your arrival where the Welcome team will direct you to the Potting Shed. 
Please wear appropriate winter clothing. The Potting Shed has a roaring fire but on chilly days an extra layer or two is recommended. Please bring your own pair of sharp secateurs.
