10th October 2020 - 11th October 2020
Get up close to one of the most important battles in English history, as armies clash in the famous Battle of Hastings re-enactment. Taking place on the very spot where King Harold and Duke William fought in 1066, our re-enactment is an epic festival weekend for all ages.
Take to the field and visit the encampments of Norman and Saxon soldiers on either side of the historic battlefield, and discover what life was like in an 11th century army. See the weapons and armour worn by Saxon and Norman soldiers, learn about the clothes they wore and the food they ate, and watch them practice their crafts. Meet falconers and their majestic birds of prey, or take a wander down medieval traders row for a special souvenir. Among the Abbey ruins, there’s lots for kids to enjoy, from mock kids battles to storytelling, medieval music and have-a-go-archery. In the reenactment itself, watch in awe at a real life medieval battle, as Norman and Saxon armies bring the story of 1066 to life.
